-Sometimes they look dead/like zombies. Thats because the shutter speed was so slow that if they blinked it'd capture both eye open and eye shut in the photograph.
Incredible how they pull their pants up so high. How on earth do they make them stay up like that? They must have suspenders as strong as bungee jumping cords.

They would probably say the same thing about pants today...

haha, Ebagg! I thought the same thing! I had already copied the link to post, but then I saw your comment. I also saw a little russell crowe in there at first glance.
Hey! stop stealn dem pictuuurs of ma relatives heyuk..
I think we had an exhibition over in auz showing these - it depicted the photos also with a little bit of the story behind the faces - like one of the females was supposedly a brothel madame/owner
@scoobydoofus- I said the same thing when I saw that pic- I'm pretty sure that's what an olde timey Marv from sin city would look like. in any case dude looks like he's been in quite a few scraps in his day.
Gotta love looking into the past like this;
People looked so much different. Women had more real, earthly beauty rather than the artificial beauty that prevails in modern times, and men looked sharp/gruff. You can feel the roughness of their skin, almost.
Thanks for posting this!! I love seeing old photos like this!
Saved this one for my personal reference. Some of them looked real shady, but others I looked at them and thought... they seem like a nice bunch of ladies ready to go out for a stroll. What're they in for?! lol

And of course, obligatory: www.shorpy.com
That's neat. I didn't know about that site.
You know, it would be cool if sites like that, and even 3d.sk, could be linked to from the PC wiki. There's already a Reference category.
WTF Anthony Hopkins!?!
PS: Awesome gallery!!!
also... be sure to stick it in the Reference thread so it won't get buried and forgotten.

A. Smith is much nicer.
Also:
It's Stephen Graham from Snatch/This Is England, combined with Dexter Fletcher (Soap from Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels)!
But yea. Thanks OP, this is awesome.
Edit:
and wtf did this lady do?
Fay Watson for the Roaring Win.

There's some absolutely amazing (but haunting) reference in both links!
So all australians.
