Styled Barbarian

The anticipation for Diablo 3 inspired me to create this barbarian. Exaggerated the proportions a bit to make him seem over the top and ridiculous. Going to paint textures similar to TF2 but perhaps with a bit more detail. Comments and crits welcome!

i agree that it looks a little odd with such a large head, scale it down a little and this will be a really awesome piece:)

    I bet a 'fave' is a mis-spelled 'face'.

Yeah, his head's so big he looks like a barbarian midget. Nice work though.

Thanks for all of your comments and feedback! A lot of the feedback I have been getting from people is that they feel the proportions are odd. Well, that is exactly what I intended with this character, to see him and think, "hey there's something not quite right about you..." This piece is intended to be fun, to remind you of those body builder types that invoke laughter and slight discomfort, despite the fact that all the work they put into there bodies is intended to do the opposite.
I do agree that the head was too big and I didn't stylize the head enough. I scaled the head down and added a little more interest to the face so hopefully this helps.

Well, I think the large head gave me the little person impression, but I think the legs are also very short and that adds to it (maybe more than the head).

Sure he's huge and muscular, but the torso/arms proportions don't seem that off to me, definitely head/legs are what throw you off.

Not that that's bad if that's what you want, I just feel those are the points that give him that 'off' look.

A quick update on the texture map. Nearly done with the color map, just some more detail work to do tomorrow before I knock out the spec. Going to be adding some occlusion to the armor pieces to make it pop. Probly going to tone down the tattoo and wood sheeth contrast as well. Comments and crits welcome!

I was just thinking about the tattoo when I read it heh. Looks great in my opinion!
What I really would like to see though, is the wireframe :) post plx!

Another update. Reasonably satisfied with the color and spec map for the time being. Going to get on with texturing the sword and creating a pose tomorrow. Typically I wait til the end to post the wireframe but since it was requested here ya go, comes out to 9610 Tris without the sword. Comments and crits plz!

Neat. Textures are rather simplistic, but I like him anyways.

    Because halflings are barbarians too.

Nice work. Really interesting interpretation of the barbarian.

I do agree that the textures could be pushed a little more, and the skin is a little plasticky/shiny in the final compared with the shot you showed before. I'm also not sure about that purple light, and the overlapping shadows on the ground is kind of distracting.

I'm not a big fan of the proportions tbh.
If you pushed the style more,it could make sense, however the upper part of the model looks like you went for a semi realistic style, while the lower part looks cartoonish.
(not the texture, but the proportions itself)
If you have to keep the legs like that, then i think arms should follow the same style.
    Just my idea though :)

Thanks for all the comments and feedback! I went back into marmoset and played with the lighting a bit, I hope this helps. I have also created this texture sheet. Diffuse and normals were set at 2048x2048, spec at 1024. The sword and alpha mat textures were set at 256x512.
This was my first "stylized" character and by the looks of the feedback I got I should have pushed the stylization in the sculpting a lot more. This is something I'll work to improve upon.
