I like your env arts, the second pic is really cool but I'd rather not write "your fked"
if you are going to put into your portfolio. Just some minor detail
I am back I hope to be around polycount more often, I got a day job using Unity and 3D apps to make games - so my work is more 3D centric then 2D / concept art / illustration. While I will still be doing quite a bit of that, I should have more 3D stuff to share in the future. For now, some 2D
Firstly I would like to say fantastic work! You have really drawn in the audience and gathered great concepts. My only critique would be lay off using jet black for the shadows or line work as this pulls some of the realism from the scenes. Shadows created in real world are a darker ambient colour of the object casting the shadow most of the time using a deep dark blue works great. For the majority of your concepts I think you've nailed it on the head. Just something to think about. Keep up the great work
preachin to the choir 3Dcharlie but thanks none the less :P if I have used any black its because of my poorly calibrated monitor, lol - I usually run warm lights and cool shadows as you suggested, but some things like hex #131619 may come across as black on some screens
Well, the high poly is just too sketchy for a clean bake, but I learned some things about TOPOGUN, which is a pretty cool software. I want to get into the sci-fi hard surface stuff but getting such clean models is beyond my skill level, and I use so many soft surface tools like zbrush as a crutch since so much of soft surface can be very doughey and normals all soft.
