Maya 2011 corrective morph

Hey there, I've been struggling to convert to Maya in work recently and have a very specific question I couldn't find an answer to while searching. I''m trying to come up with a good way to do a corrective blendshape, but can't figure out how to work on a live example of the final look.

At the moment I am applying three parallel blends to a base mesh. An open mouth, a smile and a blank one to do the corrective on. I then have to work on the blank one and it updates the base mesh in real time.

However, it's a bit like working blind. I'd like a way to work on the base mesh and then to dial down the two blends (open and smile) to get the corrective.
