Anyone else been VAC Banned before?

I logged onto steam today and found my account banned from multiplayer for a cheating infraction.

I know for a fact that I've never cheated in an online game. my system is clean and I haven't given away my login. So I'm left wondering what I could have done that caused this.

Any insights would be great. Id consider picking TF2 and L4D2 again next time they are on sale but dont really want to face this again.

Mistakes are made. Just contact Steam support and share your case. Expect a long wait to sort this out though.

Either that or it was hacked. Mine was, simple password caused it. But support were helpful and got it back for me. Still I lost all my friends.

My little brother lost his for no reason too, but he's not careful with passwords n stuff :P

It's very rare that you get VAC flagged without a reason. Somebody might have "hacked" your account, and played VAC game with hacks.

But yeah, you can try to explain your case to Steam support, but it's very rare for them to withdraw VAC bans.
