One of the monsters was described as a half-woman half-bison. I've done some superficial searchig for some of the more interesting paintings but haven't found 'em yet. This sounds like a pretty badass documentary in general but especially for anyone interested in the beginnings of art. Here's a link to the gizmodo article:

kind of ironic how they chose to shoot this 3-d tho... I'm sure it makes that half-mm thick coating of charcoal and berry paste really jump right off the wall.
