Photoshop CS5 Drag n Drop open

Dragging and dropping a file into Photoshop, onto another open file no longer works like it did in CS4 and earlier; instead, Photoshop decides to try and "Place" the file you dropped onto the currently opened file.
I never have any use for this sort of behavior and would much prefer to have it work like in CS4. Anybody have a clue how to do disable this? There's nothing in the Preferences menu that seems to be connected to this...

Yeah I was so happy when I finally discovered that, hated the new behavior, wish you could switch back.
Anyone know how to avoid it creating extra windows tabs in the windows bar for each open document as well? Instead of keeping them all in the Photoshop tab? It's really annoying when you're alt-tabbing alot.

Dont know why they tought that this was a good idea, but atleast good to know how to bypass it.

I know the tab drop works, but that's such a tiny area it takes longer than i want it to drag and drop files. Silly there is no option for this apparently...

bal - you can go to window > arrange > float in window if you want it in a separate window rather than another tab.

can't help with the other stupid feature though

tharle, nah that's not what I mean, I mean that on my windows menu bar, I don't only have a tab for Photoshop, but also for each document I have open in Photoshop (as if each one was it's own application).

I have Windows 7 64-Bit and photoshop cs5 64-bit.

Thing is, I don't want Windows to combine similar tabs, I often have similar tabs open and I want to be able to click on the right one right away, I just want Photoshop not to consider each document as a new tab, it never did this before.

That is the most annoying new "feature" I've gone back to cs4 to avoid its shittyness f you adobe ever heard of repeat last command or I don't know file menus you can tear off any time I spend in 3D app I always realize how dated and slow photoshops workflows are

Hey a pretty good work around for this annoying issue in CS5 and CS6.

Install the program below then open photoshop, launch the inspector part of the program bottom right of the interface, right click the weird text above photoshop and choose group always. Back to the way it should be.
