Symmetry in Maya?

Hey there,
I've run into a bit of a problem and I'm hoping somebody can help me. I loaded up an old mesh of mine the other day to fudge around with it and it had some funny setting turned on that gave selections some kind of symmetry. I can't for the life of me remember what I did back then but the setting wont turn off and I really need to get working on something today but I've hit a wall.
This is what it's doing. I'm sure it's a simple setting somewhere but I can't get a straight answer from google.
