I want to finish this off so, i guess ill put this here for you guys to watch and of course suggest/crit things :poly121:. this will eventually be game ready.

yay for slow small update! when i get max, ill update faster. been using zbrush for the basemeshing. nothing much. the designs might change a lot now looking at it. more to come!

I hate to nitpick- but it still doesn't capture the essence and look of a grown goron.

I'm not saying you have to follow a strict reference guideline, but it doesn't look much like a goron at this stage.

Essentially the main detail I think you'd need is the rocky bits on the forearms and shoulders. Besides that this is awesome!

The goron always seemed nice to me, even nicer than the zora. This doesn't really "capture" that for me. But it's a great looking model none the less.

Yeah, I think this has strayed so far from being a Goron you might as well drop the association. I think it would be more well-received if you did.

The neck is really bothering me on this piece, the head looks like a separate piece floating in front of the body, the back and sides of the neck really dips down between the neck and the head, and for most bulky people or the goron drawing the dip would be very faint.

Looks ace striker, my only crit would be to move the thumb back a touch atm its looking a bit like a fifth finger.

Red render is particularly yummy. Great job!

he has this "warrior" sense that i liked and wanted to carry it over. im not making a general goron, im making the infant through my interpretation.

Shiniku - ill keep the association maybe the gear is throwing it off from the "naked" gorons ha.

Felt like finishing this piece with the knowledge iv'e obtained! attached the head to the body and have some anatomical stuff to fix. hoping to finish the sculpt fast and get to some juicy daaaaaaaaaank texturing.

to make him more goron, id try making his stomach bigger and giving him a pot belly will help with that. babies have pot bellies as well so this will help sell the baby part.

In response to this comment, I sort of agree - except I think his stomach pops out a good bit as it is now. I notice, though, that when you stick pants on him you've got them somewhat high up covering that lower bump. Perhaps lower his belt so that it falls under the bottom belly curve, so his stomach is sort of sitting on top of the belt? I think that might fix the look without having to modify the stomach.

This is really amazing work, but I have to agree with the others' statements about this deviating too far from a Goron. The problem is that when people think of a Goron their mind immediately goes to the iconic appearance that was established by the games they appear in. Straying from that image too much causes you to lose that recognition and people will look at it and think "That's not a Goron.", Even if you are telling them that's what it is.

If you are set with this being a Goron I would lose some of the facial detail, go for a wider mouth, and get rid of the ears. If they have anything for ears I think they have a hole in their head. Note also that the goron in the concept art posted doesn't have much of a neck at all, so you it couldn't hurt to widen that area and make it meld from shoulders to head more abruptly like the concept art shows.

Again, amazing work! Those renders look great. I look forward to seeing where you go with this!

I second the call for a bigger potbelly. I would suggest he needs some rock nipples too, and some more rock texture overall and more rock size variation. The only rocks I can see are perched right on top and they're not very immediately noticeable. The only reason I could tell it was a goron was the arm symbol.

I love seeing old game characters re-imagined though, definitely keeping an eye on this

looks freaking sweet dude. The hair and the fuse to those barrel bombs look too similar imo. maybe try doing a shorter fuse with a different color? just looks a little funky to me!

Funky Bunnies- thanks man, and as for the rocks, i use the trim dynamic for shaving them.
johnicus- this is only supposed to be my version of a certain goron, the design for these guys changed dramatically in twilight princess and still easily recognizable for me. As for the ear, i made them smaller, i didnt want to get rid of them thanks for the suggestions tho! it was helpfull.

Ugh i been really sick but im still chipping at this and another project.
made the mouth bigger, ears smaller, belly pudginess etc. shield is still wip and chipping away on details. deff want more rocks all over this dude
