This is a character for my very last school project, so I hope you will be as brutally honest as I know you can be.

It is based on a sketch made by the awesome Ian McQue. He makes some really cool flying things, too.

It will be a full character biz, and I plan on rigging him and doing a little idle animation for him so he can stand there and look bored inside Unity during the exam.

What exactly is Dieselpunk? I'm familiar with Steampunk and Cyberpunk, but never heard of the Diesel variety. Is it just like Post Apocalypse machinery?

afaik, dieselpunk = steampunk except less victorian era stuff and more 1920's style things... i could be way off tho ^^;

Looking really cool I like it!

Steampunk = shit runs on steam.
Dieselpunk = shit runs on diesel, the style is often a little more 1950s -1970s muscle car-esk, gear head stuff with a slant toward retro futurism but it can be used for just about anything punk-ish that runs on gas.

I've used max and mudbox...

As for the target tri count, I think imma aim a lot bit higher than I usually do, and aim for something in the ballpark of 10.000 tri's. That should be the generic current gen budget if I am not mistaken?

Things to fix so far:

• Make flying helmet flare more.
• Sadden the expression considerably.

Sorry for the weak update. Am currently stabbing my stylus into tablet in reckless abandon trying to achieve convincing folds. This is the progress on the third try:



But I guess frustration is an indicator for where you need to learn. If only my 3d.sk subscription worked, haha..

Please do tell me if its passable so far, I think I have stared myself blind at it at this point..

And some of the folds around are lookin a little pillowy/soft/inflatey, little bit of tightening seems like it'd fit the material a bit more but dunno dude ^^;

Velvet Cyberpunk

Hi there! I'm new and saw that someone asked what dieselpunk i and thought I'd give my 2 cents. Dieselpunk and steampunk are only really alike in that they are alternate history science fiction that revolves around tech that wasn't available at the time. Dieselpunk is actually closer to cyberpunk in theme and atmosphere. It's basically cyberpunk seen through a pulp sci fi filter. It's set in 1920 to 1950 and employs a lot of the old pulp settings. The alternate history sci fi that's set in 1950-1980 is atomicpunk.

Some good examples are- BioShock is dieselpunk, and Fallout 3 is atomicpunk.

if id pick on anything, its make the shoes slightly higher (thicker soles, and more room for toes)
