recently, I wrote an article (in collaboration with professional 3D artists Andy Davies and Laurens Corijn, both instructors at Eat3D.com) about the importance of a good blockout when creating 3D (or any other kind of) art.
it's been posted on eat3D's industry news page, so perhaps some of you have read it already, but for those of you who don't, go and have a look
oh, and the article contains some tasty 3D art by andy, laurens and myself.
enjoy ^^
(c&c is always welcome, too

Always find it helpful to read these articles Thank you~
if you think about it, it's kind of logical that a blockout is really important, but if you really start paying attention to it in your workflow, you notice that you still make a lot of mistakes to that most basic rule. that's what happened to me anyway, and that was the reason I wrote the article in the first place
but ofcourse laurens and andy participated too, for which I am very grateful. I just figured that since I'm just a student with no professional experience to speak of and no real notoriety on forums like these, I might as well contact some people who know the trade...
