Like in my past threads for my WIP's I just take a screenshot of my computer screen.
How could I just take the model and just capture that in a professional manner? I use maya, is there some clean way I could render the model to make it useable on this forum.

The popular & hip way of doing it is Marmoset Toolbag, but that's not free.
It also really depends what you want to show though, characters, env, realtime, pre-rendred, etc...
Games are displayed by means of 'realtime rendering', that is; instantaneous renders for every frame. The only true way to show this is as you have been doing, with a screen capture of your model either in a game engine, or from the 3D app viewport (ideally using some form of DirectX shader) (just crop the image once you've captured the screen if necessary).
There are various ways to display your model in 'realtime'... my favourite: Xoliuls viewport shader:

Also Kodde's Maya shader:

Then you have actual game engine's which you can load your model into and again, screen capture.
8Monkey Labs Toolbag:

And of course, the Unreal3 Engine, UDK:

If you're working on 3D for print/film/TV, stuff that doesn't need to be rendered in realtime, then you can render 'offline', using MentalRay, VRay etc etc. In which case you can render out an image at whatever size you like.
Long story short, yep just screen capture and crop out anything you don't want.
