"damn jeffro, I'm 13 and I can do a 6:10. you need to step up your game homie!! lol nah but mine is to finally finish a project for once"
6 min is pretty damn fucking good...I guess when you are 13 and you weigh 80lbs..its no big deal.....
I am @ 8.50 ..and this old man needs some oxygen after that
6 flat for a mile sprint is probably a dream for a dude in his 30s. I'm in decent shape though.
jramauri: Good luck with the marathon. I used to do half marathons a few years ago. Get some audio books and listen to them while training. It helps with the 3-4 hours of running straight.
JFletcher: LOL. More awesome art and tutorials please this year!
For me it's the most common resolutions you'll see on this forum:
- Finish new portfolio
- Get a better job
I currently work part-time as an afterschool art class teacher for elementary school kids so a better, higher paying more personally rewarding job should be easy to find, something like digging ditches or selling meth.
I totally looked for this thread and couldnt find it. oh well...
Bellow are my 5 new years resolutions:
1. Integrate Zbrush into my pipeline.
2. Get an internship at a studio.
3. Complete my portfolio and submit one of my works for publication in a magazine or something.
4. Become a better programmer and learn to develop my own tools (plugins, scripts, little applications)
5. Complete my friend and I's submission for the upcoming Dream Build Play Competition.
- Stop smoking
- Need studying English.
- Drawing
- getting job oversea

Thank you! Nowadays, I run half marathons too. 21km is my favorite distance, not to long, not too short. But I need to experience a marathon, at least once to see if I should run more or stay with shorter distances. On december 30th, I ran 27km on training, and I loved the experience. On these first months of 2011 I'm going to increase the distance of long trainings until 36km. If I can do that I believe the marathon will be easy.
About the books, maybe you can think I'm crazy, but for longer distances, I prefer running without music or anything. It helps me to focus on the running itself.
-ok, lost almost 30lbs this year, continue that into the new year.
-get non-gaming related job (too much stress and don't want to move for jobs)
-go on vacation this year with the wifey.
-start enjoying art and videogames again this year.
Missed this thread and started one... after someone else already did... this is what I get for not checking past page 1 or checking polycount on a daily basis while on vacation heh, oh well. Here's mine.
I resolve to:
Leave whatever I find a little better than when I found it.
Save and set money aside for fun bigger trips later in the year. So far a lot of the savings I've done are for long term happiness way down the road. Gotta spread it around a little more evenly, Layne needs to have a little fun while she's growing up and so do her parents.
Get out on a boat more often than I did last year.
Continue being healthy, last year was the healthiest I've been in while, still not back up to 100% but I keep getting stronger and healthier and that's helping me get over what I had 4 years ago.
Go camping or at the very least day hikes, more often than last year. Now that Layne is 3.5 yrs old she can keep up pretty well still not too heavy to lug around either if she gets tired.
Finish overhauling my site, which include writing a few tutorials.
Post more in P&P and Tech Talk than I do in GD.
Do smaller projects and get them up for critique. The last of my remaining giant projects will be shuttered and shelved. I'd like to use the free time I have to finish more things rather than just chip away at something huge.
Been putting off posting in here for a few days. Guess I will do it now!
-Finish and release my puzzle mod Pipe Dream, even if it's not 100% perfect or 100% the vision I had.
-Gain an advanced understanding of ZBrush and integrate it into my pipeline.
-Gain an advanced understanding of high poly modeling and integrate it into my pipeline.
-Develop my skills to a point where I could be employable at the end of the year or early next year.
-Finish reading and watching all tutorial/instructional books I own on environment art/level design.
I guess I should do a few none game development related ones too.
-Don't default to turning on the TV at 7:00. That makes it nearly impossible to get any work done past then.
-Advance my cooking skills beyond pasta, soups, grilled sandwiches and breakfast foods.
-Try not to eat every meal at the computer, both because it's not a good habit and it gets crumbs all over the inside of my keyboard.
I didn't have one until like 20 mins ago.
-Be more social on and offline. I'm probably more social offline anywho (and I'm pretty social anyway, just going to increase that by a little bit more)
And
-Draw something with a pencil. Use to do this all the time...
- Drop the 12 private students I acquired over 2010 (goal was 20 or so).
- Stop teaching English (sucks but I have to move on).
- Get paid more.
- Keep getting better at Japanese.
- Stay freelance in my mountain town.

- No more alcohol. cold-turkey.
