Model Dissapears in maya HQR

So as of today for some reason when i switch to high quality rendering in my viewport my models disappear, and if i open a scene that had HQR left on when saved, i get an automatic crash. Things were fine until last night, so i'm puzzled here. Any help would be really appreciated, this is a major problem. Using maya 2008

Maybe windows update installed a new graphics driver and it disagree's with HQ mode.
If that is so, the recommendation would be to rollback to a stable driver.
And avoid 260.xx, (if you have a nvidia card).
