I'm doing a report for my uni class on character topology, trying to gather research. On whether muscle-following or bendy-straw loops give the best results.
I've got a lot of stuff on shoulders, but I can't really find anything that deals too specifically with the hip/thigh joins - other than the one that Ancient Pig wrote. And I can find even less on best methods for rigging/weighting them.
Does anyone have tips on what they've found to be the best topology/weighting setup?
Or know of some sort of article/tutorial/thread that covers it that I've overlooked?

Especially check out the Brian Tindall and Jonathan Williamson links... for example Tindall's http://www.hippydrome.com/LLeg.html
I'm really after something a bit more specific to games. Ways to keep the self-intersection looking decent when the thigh is raised up, etc...
Here's an older one from polycount, seems to be some gems in here
