This is my first UDK environment, based off this little area I walk by going to work each day. Thought it would be fun to make it a crime scene and give it a somewhat dark moody look to it. I would like to say this is done but would love to hear any suggestions and crits about composition / lighting and colors.

I really like this, its awesome!

I am a little confused by the bullets in the van though? Don't the crime scene people turn up after the crime?

but yeah i really like it :)

Great work man, I really like this. Good work on your lighting.

This is a pretty cool scene, I like the premise of it.

I have to disagree about the lighting being good though. I think the lighting is creating focal points all over the place and not really helping to tell the story of the scene.

I would lower the brightness on the secondary light sources (window with silhouettes, building in the background, and the light on the right). Then reposition the light on the left column to the right column (closer to the van) or add a second light there so that it illuminates the van better.

Anyway, it's a good scene thanks for sharing it with us.

hi man,I like your texture work and the attention you give on the details.Kind of agree with Ben Apuna about the lighting you can put this scene on a other level of mystery, on story telling by some light tweak as suggested ,(maybe add a cons-days guy on the bridge and remove the two behind windows...) But again great job man.

Hey guys good call on the lighting. When I first started the scene it was never supposed to be a crime scene and I was planning on a daylight setting. I tend to get lost in the "I need to show off everything" when I'm doing lighting. I struggled for weeks lighting this scene to get the mood I want. I will definitely try out those suggestions to create a better focal point and more mystery.

Hope to have some reference shots and early progress pics up later this week so you guys can see the evolution and struggle I went through building this hah

Really reminds me of an environment from an early Splinter Cell, kudos.

Sorry for the huge image dump but I thought I'd share the progression of this scene from a few sample reference shots to final piece. Originally this was going to be your typical alley scene with a daylight setting, but I got bored and as you can tell turned it into a crime scene.

Yes this is a small part of Vancouver by BC place :).

Thanks guys for the comments and crits, im not entirely happy with the lighting but i find the more i fiddle with it the more i start hating this scene :( I'll definitely post up shots of my next scene as I'm working through them rather than piling it all on the end :) PS i decided to turn the van around because I really suck at modeling vehicles ;p
