This is my first ever post, for some reason I got the activation email hours later than I signed up. Strange.

Anyways,
I want to start doing some texture work, and I am wondering if anyone wants to collaborate. Concept artists, Modelers, Sculpters, reply here if you are interested.

I want to do a character thats not too much work. Just simple armor No hair on head. For my first one.

Whats in it for you?
Experience. You all probably know by now that with just a diploma/degree, you can't get a job. You have to present your portfolio, why not show them that you know the development pipeline (Concept Art> Modeling> Sculpting> Texturing> Rigging). I think this can be a good learning experience for all of us. Please let me know what you guys think.

Im using Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, BodyPaint.

Don't think this is the right place for this thread.

Good texture artists know how to unwrap and bake too, and very preferably how to model. You'd honestly get much more out of it if you did everything yourself.
    Good luck anyway.

~ Texture artists know how to do everything. They usually just end up slipping into the role of texturing.

There are SDK's (free models) for download. Download some and start texturing.

I know guys, I know I should know everything. I want to be a texture artist though, so I wanted to see if I can pull this off ... just texturing first.. I will learn it all. I know how to model, but if I want to do NextGen textures, I need to model like that too.. thats why.. Thanks for that link haiddasalami

    I don't get it...

Your first post says you need to know the whole pipeline to get a job yet your asking for people to collaborate and only work on one section of the pipeline.

I think Dreamer nailed it there really, certainly all the texture artists I've spoken to have been great at the rest of the workflow too, not just texturing.

While I've never experienced it first hand, I would've thought the number of jobs for a sole 'Texture Artist' are pretty small, surely only the biggest of dev teams would employ people to just work textures? I could be wrong I guess but it seems like you're seriously narrowing your chances of employment if you only want to texture.

Kinda like learning to be a car mechanic, but only wanting to fix suspension.
