Hey Guy, this is a demo to help me find internship in 3d industry. I'm in the 3d world since 1 year now this demo is for school. Any comment are welcome!

NEW HD LINK: http://www.vimeo.com/17010620

edit: ty for the comments don't get me wrong this is not the final version of this demo i just wanted feedback and cc, to improve it.

So i will put more wireframe and breakdown, making ground and nice env, some close up shot and add 1 more project.

@jeremiah_bigley thank you for your time man nice comments, actually the "2 incomplete" project are actually finished. I will make breakdown of them texture to ao to wireframe to low poly + normal, but i agree just like this people will think it's unfinished. About the lazy part this is only 1 month and a half of work dude, i will not make turntable of my shitties first projects i have made ;). In school they told us to make demo short and put more details of your work online because recruiter won't watch you for more then 1/2 min. Anyway 3d is all about working more. Thanks !

@raul Thanks, i will keep in mind that i need to do more props and env. Because yes thats probably what i will make in the beginning. I wanted to explore and make character art and i had fun but your right, i need to improve the basic before jumping into the more experience needed stuff.

sorry for bad english...

Your work is nice, but your presentation is lacking a bit. I like how close you are to the second character. Why are we not this close to the first one? I can barely see the details on him... I think you need to find a better display solution than just sitting an object on a floating plane with a black render background. Look into making a psych wall, look into the Matte/Shadow material, look into a background that is not just black. Your first character was lit way too dark as well.

Lastly, are you still in school? Because if you are trying to get hired off of 1 car, 1 character, and 2 incomplete projects... I doubt it will happen. When I hit the end of the video I literally said... "That's it?" You need more man! Or they wonder what you have been doing with all your free time. Was he out partying all the time is that why he only has 2 complete characters with minimal lighting and presentation?

Your stuff is nice! Just get closer, look into better presentation solutions, and have more work.

    Cheers!

I agree i think you need a closer render on dhalsim, it's cool to have full body shots like that but we want to see the deets! :)

@jeremiah_bigley I'm guessing he's still in school, since he's looking for an internship, and said that he made this reel for school.

More quality work would definitely be a plus, though. It probably depends a lot on the studios you apply to, their needs, and your competition.

adding to this, your lighting needs to be a little lighter. Its cool when you turn around the character and show them moving. Sucks that its too dark behind them to see anything. Its also too far, you need to frame the character not the scene.

The other thing is, sadly..unless you are a super bad ass character artist. You wont get an internship as one. Normally they will have you do props. So perhaps you want to focus more on having more "character" props, like helmets and cloth accessories and the like. Or maybe even head busts, not full characters. I personally would stay away from characters. And do more props. Most entry level jobs will want you to model a chair, or a car.

Other thing, no wires, or high poly, or nothing. Its hard to tell what you are showing without a breakdown. Go to youtube and look up Vancouver film school, and STUDY their reels. Some of them (most of them ) are a feast to your eyes. Executed beautifully. So check those out.

and the most important thing, post your work here, so you can get feed back! :)
