I'm putting together my list for Christmas, and need some recommendations for good instructional books. What are some of your favorites in the areas of animation, art, design, etc?
Art of Uncharted 2 - Incredddddible art book. Some of the best game art ever seen in a book very inspirational, some great write ups, and just an all round amazing book.
I personally didn't think the Art of God of War 3 book was anywhere near as good as the UC2 book, but still worth picking up, some nice stuff in there.
Art of Darksiders - Best. Artbook. Ever. Nothing more to say. Got my copy this week and could not believe the quality of it. Absolutely packed with fantastic stuff both 2d and 3d, props, characters, weapons, environments, everything. Right from super early concept stages up to finished product.

Design -

I'm not a designer, but this book was still a good read. I would imagine if design is your thing then it would be even more awesome.
Animation -
Again, not an animator but I bought the Drawn to Life books which were a great read and apparently great for animators too.
