**This position is located in Austin, TexasDescription of Duties
- An individual contributor that ensures that art and animation are enhanced by the use of advanced technical processes, systems and software.
- Works directly with artists and programmers to develop software tools and scripts that enhance and streamline the creation of art and animation in the product.
- Acts as a liaison between departments and teams to ensure effective workflow. Prepares and implements technical aspects of art within creative and technical specifications of the software product.
- Participates in determining technical or artistic approaches and in developing new or enhanced technical tools.
- Mentors less experienced members of the team.
- Interacts with internal and external peers and managers to share complex information related to area of expertise.
- May be given team-leading responsibility for a smaller production, which could include responsibility for implementing the overall technical processes, systems and software.
Summary of Requirements
- Proven traditional artistic/technical skills in both 2D and 3D production; thorough understanding of interactive entertainment methodology and the video game production pipeline.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems.
- Proven proficiency with 2D/3D art production software and current Retro 2D/3D art production tools.
- Minimum two years' experience in art production for interactive entertainment, including minimum of one product cycle as a technical artist in the industry.
- Fast-paced environment with fluctuating production requirements; may be necessary to change specific duties, projects, schedule or direction on short notice; overtime, weekend and holiday work may be required; up to 10% travel.
- Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills to define issues with designers, programmers, and producers and then communicate changes and additions to the production and the art team.
Education
- Undergraduate degree in art related subject or completion of an intensive art training program or equivalent.
