Lampekaps sculpts

this is my first thread in pimping and reviews so im not sure what to expect:poly122:

im a begginer with 3d sculpting, and id like to improve. sadly i don't get many comments or critisim from alot of people on the digital sketchbook section, so i thought i have nothing to lose, lets try it here :

i am aware that there might be again a shifting of proportions of the head to the face. wake helped me out a lot with a previeus sculpt, but i still find it very tricky too spot and fix it. I also spend atleast half of my time on this one trying to make the lips look right. fyi im using sculptris, but im learing zbursh. thanks for reading :)

Your smaller details are actually pretty decent. The facial features, excepting the lack of eyes, are reading fairly well. Once you sharpen and refine them it should look pretty good.

Presuming this is a normal human male, the biggest problems for me are the overall proportions. He's got a lot of unnecessary mass on the top and back of his head. Bridge of the nose is too wide on top. The neck is way too thick in side view, and too short overall.

I'm lazy so here's a quick paintover I made in another thread that may be applicable:

i also tweaked the mouth a bit, but im not sure if it fits the face

That's looking much, much better. It doesn't look like an average male head, because while some of the features you have are very plausible in a person, they are not "the norm". For instance, the jaw line is relatively subtle, and there is no indication of the Zygomatic Arch.

That isn't to say that is a bad thing. Having very individualistic features gives a character, character. It's just something to take note of when deciding if the result you have there is looking the way you want. Idealized anatomy and proportions, or more of a character study.

But either way, you're going in the right direction. Keep it up.

Hi, thanks for the comment,. on this particular sculpt i wasn't aiming for a avarage avarage male head, instead i's trying get the basic proportions, while practasing with detailed features such as the lips and nose. ill definiatly try to remember the arch thing , ive never heared of it.

As for now, i'm quite stuck with the eyes and ears. ive tried diffrent ways of doing them, i tried with spheres as eyes, or i tried to sculpt them in. its hard to get it right. i picked up an older female head, and i did some refinement on the mouth and knows. I apreciate all comments en critics :)

hmm the top of the ear needs to come down, when you do sculpt your eyes, the center of your eye should line up with the top of your ear, the nose and the mouth is prty darn good !! if you dont know how to sculpt something or what it looks like its really helpful to look at reference, although your probably doing that right now :)

hi jungsik, thanks for the comment and the tip about the ear and eye :). ill start practasing soon the eyes , with eyelids and stuff. also, just before i read ur comment i just did some really sketchy sculpting, again refining on the mouth. i actually started out quite "cartoony" but i changed slowly to more realistic proportions. there might be a bit still of the cartoony ness in there :P. please excuse the unfinished ness of this one, im in a hurry, and i didnt save.

update: ive been doing some very quick practise sculpts, heres my last: iJVal
im wondering if i should continue wit h these quickies, and focus more on the fine details such as eyelids etc, and actually finnish a piece. ive also tried to do a torso sculpt, with head on top. i m still in need of advice and critics, each comment is apreciated :)

hi, your ear looks odd :O If im seeing this right ( not front view? ) tip of your ear should line up with the center of your pupil. also your neck is narrow and your shoulders
