Looks pretty sweet. It's rare to see a concept gun that actually looks like it would work in reality. The edge tightness looks fine but the vertical foregrip looks a little murky.
the gun is looking pretty solid overall. My only crit is the barrel. You've titled this as a sci-fi gun, which for the most part its passable. But the barrel is straight from an AK-47, which isn't all that 'sci-fi' in my opinion. I think you could definitely come up with something that looks cooler for the barrel, you've got the skills to do so
so when i have my hp selected it shows fine, as soon as i go to rotate the view port it turns into missing blocks but when i select it agian its all there, i imported from a .obj used poly gon, exported smooth groups normals, texture coordinates and had optimize off. I also exported with no optimizations on, and if i make its so that its not turbo smoothed there are no errors. I stl checked and made sure that all the verts were welded there are no flipped faces or double edges or anything like that BRAHHH wtf is up with these exports.
Just curious for your glitching window, did you figure out a solution? Also what is your perspective camera's near/far clip values compared to the size of your weapon?
oh yes the solution to my problem was to convert my highpoly to editable mesh then back to editiable poly. very strange indeed. and im not using a camera thats just a view port screen grab, default fov, which i think is 45 degrees.
I think you should just have the side of the surefire grip smooth, right now it looks like you have normal issues (I know that the curves are in the highpoly). But your reference doesn't have those, and it just adds a weird mushy quality to an otherwise very solid model. Will be watching this
Been watching this, nice to see it develop. Glad you've ditched the ugly foregrip on the otherwise handsome RFB, certainly looks futuristic enough with a little cleanup. Looking forward to updates.
finished decimating the main body, its about 5800 triangles right now might go lower but im goign to start baking it, i think the whole weapon with attachments will probbaly be about 10k

So far it looks like some of your edges are still pretty soft, I would add a little more support to them, especially around the grips.
Also, make sure you are beveling insets and extrusions to make sure they show up on the normal map.
could you explain murky?
He even included the larger threads at the base of the protruding barrel, and the gap at the toe of the buttstock.
ill look up more render tuts i know this is horrendous
but gotta say i like it so far..
