The Zone project: Final video/project review

Hey folks! Back in July I wrapped up my Leadwerks engine sample level design project (The Zone), but I just recently finished the final video tour of the project due to distractions like getting married and building a (real) house. :)

You can check out the video here:

Be sure to watch it in HD!

I'd really love some comments on my areas of weakness and anything that I could improve on for my next project.

Yes! So glad you got a video made, I had a feeling the screenshots didn't do it justice. Its a shame about the very noticeable popping though. Could it not be rendered on a higher spec machine?

It was rendered on a machine I just built this summer - i7 930 @ 3.8ghz and an EVGA GTX 480. :) The LOD popping is really one of the few downsides of the engine in my opinion. I really wish that LODs would fade in vs. pop in (which I think is much more common to see now). On top of that, I had something like 32 vegetation layers that I used on this project so I was really pushing the vegetation system to its limits.

I also recorded the raw video with FRAPS (ugh) in the Editor , so if I wanted 30fps for the recorded video I needed 60fps in the Editor before I started recording.
