Is there a way to create a Y-junction renderable spline in max? Currently when I try to weld the 3 verts at the centre of the Y max only welds 2 and refuses to weld the last one.
Yep, DOG-GY has it. It is kinda ugly, but here is a way to do it. Probably plenty more.
Top left is closed spline and attached line separate.
Middle left is same closed spline and line with overlapping vertices at intersection (vertex snap helps).
Lower left has two segments deleted from closed spline.
You will need to convert to editable poly or add an edit poly modifier and do some cleanup.
