Hey guys- posting some of my work for the first time. Criticism is encouraged. I'm currently doing industrial design-style work but want to hone my skills as a concept artist. Hope ya find it interesting. O.o
the trouble is that you're caught in a no-man's land between a sketch and a render. The highlights that you have on top indicate the latter, but a lot of your marks on the lower half of the bike aren't as accurate or well lit, and on the whole are flattening out the image.
To make the image fit more there are some techniques you can use-- sometimes ID guys will actually just photoshop in pictures of wheels and engine parts, because no one likes drawing wheels, but more important is getting a better sense of lighting and edge quality. Sorry I can't be more specific-- bit of a rush right now, but take a look at these images to get more of an idea of what I'm talking about:
Thanks wake,
I was definitely struggling with defining the main body panel, and where to indicate reflections. I think the bbs-style wheels flatten the image as well because the spokes are too thin to indicate reflected light. I'm definitely gonna try and clean this one up a bit.
