So after a hardrive + Back up HDD crash/burn and losing every project I have amassed, I decided to start a new.
This is a russian jet circa 1947. I really love old school jets and planes, with their odd body shapes and sort of un-sleakness to them. The green paint job is the original style, the other ones are more for fun or were part of other iterations of the yak. What do you guys like the best?

nice model.
Maybe try a military paint job?
This is all still WIP, Spec is basic, trying to work on the diffuse. In the end I'd like to put this flying through the UDK engine with some cheesy Russian Propaganda feel. Coldhands, that paint job is chill as hell, I was also planning on doing a second paint job, or another plane behind it. Critiques wanted!
Unless there are objections..
Try muting it, and throw in a tad of yellow to get that perfect olive drab..
A technical question, does anyone know anyway to export .ase files from Maya2011? Actorx's 2010 plugin doesn't work and they have yet to come out with a 2011 version... I've been sending .objs to my friends to export it for me and I'm starting to feel like a bit of a burden, haha.
Are you going to model the cockpit?
Anyways. I took your advice and desaturated it, also added more of a yellow tinge to get more of an olive color. I am not gonna model the cockpit, mostly because I only wanted to do a render of it flying through the sky.. and it was my first time modeling a flying vehicle and wanted to focus on the exterior. I made my own skybox and added UDK's Lens Flare. Like to get some opinions before i set it up for my portfolio and website. Thanks!
