Okey, i'm doing a HP atm that needs some welded seams. I saw some tutorial on the subject like 6 month ago, but i can't find it. Can't really get it right
I don't really know much about welding, but from googling some images, it looks like there should just be one row of welds, instead of two. Also, I think the individual shapes in your welds may be a BIT too big and defined, but that may end up looking right on the normal map.
Got some good ideas from the bitmap tutorial. Not perfect, but it fit my needs.
It's a sphere as base and the some vertex moving to get the sphere to just fill the seams. The I used the wax brush with a pretty hard falloff in a circular movement.
I actually did one try in between with a lower strength to the brush and got result close to the MIG technique, but it was small i didn't think it would pick up on the normalmap. That's why i did a thicker rougher weld. The object i'm doing is actually from the 1960's, i guess i didn't have the same technique as we do today?
I'll keep this, and for the other stuff i'll try to tone it down a bit.

Also, there is some info on welds here and there in the WAYWO thread.

I like the more rough welds he got, and the one down right on your pic Sean_EG.
Your right, it should only be one line of weld, not two.
