Hey guys, Basically I want to create a very professional model for my website to really grab the customers attention. I dont plan on having this model completed anytime soon, since it will take a long time to model in every single detail. Anyways, to keep track of this project I made a word document telling myself what i want to accomplish when I make this, such as the skills I want to improve on. I'll probably update this as I model to keep you guys informed. I may even just make it an epicly long word document and show all of my progress for others to see how I work and really benefit from it, and move at their own pace unlike in video tutorials.
Anyways, Heres my plan. You just have to click on the link and you dont even need a google docs account to view it! Keep this thread bookmarked because it will be updated! 2008 Camaro Plans
But i feel that if i tell people about my plan, and track what I do according to the plan and my goals, I will have the motivation to finish what i have started.
Keep at it napkin. btw, there is no such thing as a 2008 Camaro. There where no model years 2003-2009. Your ref is made up of concepts, aftermarket kits, and the 2010 production model, so just make sure it all matches up.
Thanks for the reply Stromberg90! i need to use the google docs so that i can update all of my threads on other sites (i want as much C/C as possible) quickly and in one place. I will probably end up hosting it on my website, but I just cant seem to find my ftp info so i'll have to get it from my dad tomorrow
ALSO: Does anyone know how to make a material glow? I can get it to glow, but very very softly and not the extent that I want. The LED light tube is all made of small LED lights and I want them to have a material that will glow like it in the render. Any help/ Crits/ Links are greatly appreciated!

I will definitely check into those kinda maps, and I know you can do it with direct x shaders, I just dunno where to do it on regular materials
Today/ tomorrow I plan on tackling the wheels, rims, Calipers, and disks. I'll probably post up some progress on the headlights later so check back in. I'll also look into a simpler way of displaying all of this information... Possibly just make a webpage on my site and just make it extremely long and just keep adding to it. ITS HARD TO DECIDE
Decided to have a bit of fun and do some material tests on the headlights with glowing effects and such, and i must say that I am very pleased with the results. Now to move onto the rims and rubber and I will probably do material down there too

Hehe thanks man!
Today and last night I have been modeling the Rims, I will probably do the rubber later tonight and get that and all the text/details done for this part

Do you fancy sharing how you did that, looks awesome
Bit confused, you going for a highpoly model? Because that body wire looks like it's more for lowpoly (due to the tris here and there) ? Also some lines are a bit wonky. Remember, every loop needs to flow nicely without any hint of a kink in there, unless intentional.

Yes I am going for a Highpoly turn out, and those tris are at some of the seems where i can fix them alot easier after i detach them from the main mesh
Thanks for the crits though, I guess I have been staring at the same edges for a long time that I cant see the difference anymore haha I'll get those finished asap! Thanks!
*only thing i see that jumps out maybe.fix the hood scoop it kinda looks to much 90degree .obviousely the door handles and where it opens.ill do a quik paint over for what i think is wrong in a lil orwhen ya update
A few things strike me as being off. The upper corner of the front fascia indent (where grille and lights go) isn't sharp enough/looks wrong. The curve of the door also looks weird.
Kitteh: So i guess the whole body needs some sharpening up, i can fix that haha Thanks for the comments, I've got a few different versions of the camaro in my pictures folder so I must be mixing them up
Now that I look at it the angles on the door were crappy :P Thanks a bunch for the nice ref!
You always seem to find me when I post car pictures :P
2: Edge should terminate much more sharply at the top and disappear smoothly to the side.
3: There is a bit of inconsistent smoothness around the bevel there. In parts its tight others its pretty loose. It may just be the camera angle, but eh.
4: Dunno if you just forgot to smooth/turbosmooth it but its a little jagged.
Some might say I'm nitpicking, but if you pop in at cg-cars they point out insane shit. Then again thats what they focus on.
Be sure to heed Xoliul's advice about edgeflow. Even small things you'd think wont show, show up once drop that show room shine on it.
All that said, there are others far far more in depth with cars than I am, but just figured I'd point out what I could.

best of luck on the project!
And some(Including myself) might want you to post the images here instead of us having to use the google docs page, just saying... up to you tough
And i do find the blue text distracting, i know i'm wierd :P

Or use a alpha gradient ramp to create the light falloff?
Just some ideas to look into, I haven't worked with any fancy rendering stuff, so there will probably be better ways of achieving this.
