introducing me and steve

Hey, this is my first post on this site.

i was recomended here by my friend/lecturer to see what other people in my position are producing. the level of work on this site is great, although slightly above where i am at at the moment i am eager to catch up :p

I would like to introduce you to my current project, i call him steve.

as you can see steve is still in production. the chest is just a keepsake for now as i knocked it up in like a min and the geometry kinda sucks. i like the basic shape though so i will try to clean that up at a later point. the neck again is just their as a placeholder until i move onto modeling that part as is the same with the cylinders near the sholder and pelvis.

have had to stop with the clay renders as i dont have enough ram to support it anymore :p (more in the post) anyway i know its still early stages but any comments are welcomed, figured i should get myself out there and see what people say bout my work :p

thanks in advance, Noxain

hello, noxain. Welcome to polycount. how cute you gave your piece a name! :P I think its looking alright so far, i see a lot of simple shapes. So perhaps you want to add a little more complexity to the model. And showing wires on your next updates would also be a good idea.

I just found the post a bit confusing in that you are seeming to pimp your lecturer and then introducing yourself and 'steve'.
He looks more like a 'basil' or a 'Ted':)

The design a little simplistic TBH and I am not really getting what sort of robot he is supposed to be. Perhaps just work on the design a little first.

In addition to what others have said, he looks very off-balance at the moment, and likely to fall forward. A profile shot would be helpful for better crits here.

    Hey, thanks for the tips.

Raul: thank you for the welcome :)
i think every robot needs a name :p

Ruz: yea looking at that line was kinda bigging him up i guess. thats gone now :p and steve didnt like basil or ted. says he will look more steve-like when he's finnished :D when he has arm he will look like a gaurd/sentry robot im hoping. he will be fitted with guns on his arms, i have tried to make the eye look quite high tech and will continue to work on it as his primary function will be to 'look out' so this would need to be sophisticated looking tech.

Cheese. yea atm he does look kinda off balance atm, it its partially offset by his swayback knees atm but will be further balanced by a sizable bulk behind the elbow area. but as suggested i will ad better perspectives in my next post.

more updates will follow soon. full time job and my girlfriend leave me struggling for time t model which is a pitty.

Hey welcome to polycount, do you have concepts? If not you might want to make some to trouble shoot your balancing problem.
