3ds Max Envelope Issue

I encountered a new problem today. I've been weighting these characters left and right for a while now. All the sudden the new envelopes I create are stretched. I don't see anything that doesn't uniformly scale them and it is occurring ever time. Is there some setting I checked? Refer to attachment.

I would guess, the character has been scaled non-uniformly without resetting the transformation matrix afterwards...try reset XForm before adding the Skin Modifier...

Yea I agree, either the scale for the mesh or the bones needs to be reset.

If its the mesh, Xform would do the trick but its a bit like using a nuke to kill a fly, Hierarchy Tab > Reset Scale then reapply skin would probably work just fine without going for the big guns and risking reorienting the pivot to some undesirable state. Reset Scale is a good option too when you can't collapse your modifier stack for half a dozen reasons.

If its the bones, first I need to say never scale bones always adjust them using BoneTools "Bone Edit Mode".
The bones scale needs to be reset in which case DO NOT reset Xform it will screw up the local pivot for the bone. Instead use, Main Menu > Animation > Bone Tools > Reset Scale.

If you're using Biped its probably the mesh, biped resets the scale of all bones when it exits figure mode, and by default it won't allow you to scale its pieces when its out of figure mode (not without a sub-animation controller anyway).
