1983. The height of the Cold War.
Throughout the closing months of the year, there has been a worrying increase in terrorist attacks upon NATO countries and intelligence chatter that indicates a terrorist attack will likely take place in London, the capital of the United Kingdom, along with rumblings from across the Iron Curtain.
You take the role of 29 year old Sgt. John Casey, a member of The Increment, a shadowy black ops unit comprised of SAS, SBS, and SIS operatives set up in the early 70s to deal with threats against the crown, and NATO. The Increment's Blue Team have been tasked with dealing with the threat, via any means necessary.
The threat has to be eliminated before it is too late.
Failure is not an option.
A meeting with a source in Northern Ireland who claims to have information about these attacks is about to take place - but not everything is as it seems...
The Increment is intended to be a tactical FPS/RPG styled game set during the 1980s - in recent years, theres been somewhat of a drought in terms of games based during the Cold War era, perhaps one of the most rich periods for a game to be set during to the secret conflicts and ideological conflicts of the time. The player takes the role of an SBS operative as part of a British controlled taskforce, and takes part in several operations across the UK, mainland Europe, the USSR, and Africa.
The game is supposed to bridge the boundaries between FPS and RPG - as games have started to in recent years, such as Mass Effect 1 and 2. By this, we mean interaction with NPCs, core character development, and the gameplay being based around the player's choices more so than you would have in an arcade shooter.
We're currently working on a tech demo to demonstrate to the public and potential investors what we're aiming to develop in time, along with a teaser trailer which we're aiming to complete before the end of the year.
Until we've got a product released, we're not able to offer any payment to team members up front, only on a royalty basis. You can find more information on the setting and mechanics in the concept document that I've linked to at the bottom of this thread - feel free to ask for more information if you need any.
Samples of our work:
As an example of the work we're doing, and to show off the art style we're following which is primarily realism, with some slight styling - for a good example of the art style (or a very close art style anyway), have a look at Chronicles of Riddick or The Darkness by Starbreeze, which also uses the Unreal3 engine to the best of its ability.
Current Team Structure:
We are a fairly small international team, mostly hailing from the US and Europe, made up of those who develop as a hobby to those who are currently working in the games industry. Approximately 20% of the team are industry professionals.
