Tossing my hat in on this one. I know it's not a beat 'em up, but I for some reason thought of the game Sunset Riders. I finally got around to doing an influence sheet and a layout sketch. I noticed that someone is also doing a wild west theme... hope that's not too much of a problem. The level will take you through the town and end at the train station. In case this ends up not being long enough and I have the time, I will add more in the middle, like maybe a farm or something.... who knows

Challenges:
Getting a better grasp on UDK.
Recently converted to 3ds max. Gonna do all modeling in that program. Haven't quite mastered uv's in max, but what better time to get on that.

Finally got around to doing a rough blockout of the level this past weekend. I realized what I have is too short, so I'm adding a farm/ranch and some houses... then to the main town and end at the train.

I plan to add obstacles to jump onto such as wagons, crates, barrels in the town. There will be litter, such as tumbleweeds, etc. Also, maybe some telegraph wires along the tracks that go into the town or something (need to look up some reference on that) I'm going to get everything modeled out in 3ds max first, then port it all over into udk.

    Quick little runthrough

I love the visuals of the movie! Very clean and well executed.

I think I'd like it more if the train tracks came into that turn at a more oblique angle that originated behind the town. The sharp turn and shot looking straight down the track feel awkward to me.
