Hi all!
I started modeling this Mossberg around 4 days ago, and I'm pretty happy with it.
There are a few tweaks that I know I have to do, but I'd love to hear from you if you have any suggestions on it before I move on to lowpoly!
Ya looks good to me! maybe show a side view to check proportions .. but in my opinion it looks fine.
Here's a sideview.
The top one is my model, and the bottom one is my reference image.
One thing I should point out is that the model shown in the picture has the OLD pump, instead of the modified one, but the proportions are still the same on rest of the model.
gonna be using it in crysis? it has that shader look it it
I was actually thinking UDK.
Was hoping to make a firing and reoload animation and get that working in the UDK, seeing as that's an area I've _never_ touched before.
I think I'm getting there. Slowly but surely.
I could really use some help with the spec map. Anyone here got experience with texturing weapons that have any pointers?
I don't have much experience texturing weapons, but for speculars, think about where you want light to bounce off.
-Down the barrel(essentially 'lines' going down the barrel)
-Around the nose of the barrel
-The shell ejector port
-Some softer/diffused speculars on the butt and around the handle would also help it look better
This looks really awesome! Just play with the speculars until you get something you like.
Is the barrel really too thin?
I'm gonna have to check it out again.
Been having some seriously problems with that barrel. And I thought that was gonna be the easier part to model. x)
Oh, and thank you for the pointers and the compliment Base!
Looking good so far, althought there are a few areas I miss from the original.
This one fore example:
But perhaps you just decided to keep them out of the model? Or maybe you'll fix it in the textures.
And isn't the barrel usually black coated metal?
Also, on your highpoly, it looks like the trigger-guard is just a floater, when its actually connected to the rest of the body on the real thing. (as from what I could tell from references.
More detail in the spec would be great, but I don't know what kind of look you're up for, grungey and used or clean?
Barrel IS looking a bit thin, but that might be the focal lenght.

Really? I thought they were solid. :O
I used this: http://ttiintl.com/image/50411.jpg as reference when I blocked it out.

Keep it up!
I made it a little thicker near the beginning of it, but now that you mention it I might have to make it even thicker.
Thanks!
Only working on the diffuse atm.
Please let me know if you see something that stands out that I need to fix!
