UV Unwrapping query - 3D Studio Max

Perhaps a bit of a dumb query but I'll ask anyway... :poly142:

I have some UV sheets in 3D Max, one of which contains various objects like window frames/glass/plastic objects etc. I want to texture these in Photoshop and so I've exported them at a resolution of 2048x2048.

I may just be needlessly confusing myself but I would like to know if I need to have a different shader applied to each of these objects and how I would do that if all these objects are to be in the same UV sheet?... or do I just need to texture them in Photoshop and then bring them back in?.. though if I do that then surely they would all have to share the same shader..

Any clarifying of this problem needed then please ask.

Hope you can help.

Martin

    you can have different materials or shaders for the matter but just one texture. Just assign the same texture to the various materials or shaders.
    So what that means is that
    texture != material

    And there is no need to create a new texture for every body part of an object or character just try to combine stuff smartly.

    Thanks for the reply, I kinda thought that might be the case, it's obvious really I just managed to confuse myself... cheers!
