Hey guys, so i've been making this character for a little bit now, and this a gun I started last night for the character. I wanted some feed back and also, help on trying to find some better reference for it. The gun is a sawed off coach gun (mad max style - Hudson Mad Max Shotgun).
Its coming along Alberto,
looking at the ref, I see that the locking / release mechanism for the barrels is accurate in your model, but for the sake of making the details jump out a bit more, maybe you could try adding about 20% more thickness to the one on your model?
Lookin good!
I took the release and made a bit bigger don't know if it's 20% but its bigger, lol.
also fix a lot of the details; making them sharper and more accurate.
One quick question:
I'm planning to take this to Zbrush, how can i do that and still project it to a lowpoly? or should i just project one map on MAX and another in zbrush and then combine them in crazybump? (which is what i was gonna do.
Hey Alberto,
If you bring it into Z-Brush, just export it back out as an obj, bring it into max/maya, and render to texture. That's what I do at least. I'd be interested in knowing if there are faster / more awesome ways out there though too.
The flipper switch is lookin a little high now in its height.
Also, if you want your clay renders to have nicer shadows, try turning up the image size in the shadow options. Its usually set to 512, bring it up to 2000 or 3000 and that will soften your shadows up. Also, turn off the shadow bias as well, it offsets the shadow from your object, so you're not fully getting 100% shadow accuracy in your renders.
The model is coming along nicely though man!

Maybe if you chamfered the sides a little more or pulled them a tad further apart.
i'll post updates soon.
