Any idea how to create photoshop hotkeys without Ctrl or shift?

I'd like to be able to assign just > as a hotkey for something, or E for something, instead everything has to be Ctrl+ something. i think everyone could speed how they work if we could do this. anyone know of...a hack or...something where i can change my hotkeys to whatever i want? i'd like a hotkey for the circular marquee instead of shift+M everytime for example.

Im hoping someone on here knows of something cool where i can do this in PS?

The tool hotkeys in Photoshop are all single-button hotkeys, which includes your circular marquee example.

All the other non-tool hotkeys are shift/ctrl+something though. You could make an action and bind that to the F1-F12 keys, but anything beyond F5 is pretty far to reach and you'd probably be better off using a ctrl/shift hotkey for whatever function we're talking about anyway and reserve the recorded actions for more advanced macros.

You could use Autohotkey to customize hotkeys completely and make use of the non-letter hotkeys like []';#/.,
Autohotkey can be used for any application/game and you can set up scripts to work on a per-application basis. Hotkey replacement is pretty simple in Autohotkey.
