Can anyone help on a kinda related topic. I'm getting this posterization but a bigger problem for me is the fact that when I scroll down pages I get extreme screen tearing.
What could possibly be the problem? I can't find a solution.
To me it sounds like a video driver issue, Taylor. Have you tried running Driver Sweeper to remove all traces of your old video drivers and then installing the newest ones for your card?
That could be the case, unfortunately. I was gonna say I JUST got this PC but actually had it for about almost a year, I think. I've always been a bit crap at installing new drivers. It's a weird process I uninstall my old ones, go to the site and download the new one, wont let me install because Windows is searching for one that I had before or something. I can't remember the whole process but I restart my PC at least 5 times lol.
But I can see that I only have 1 driver, the latest 257.21.
I done the driver sweeper, no nvidia files at all, installed latest driver, still there.
It's not just screen tear. I've noticed white boxes and glitches in my videos. As well as when have a video running and put, for example, a polycount thread over that and scroll I'll get vertical tearing
big bunch of weird glitches.

It's this Color Banding thing.
Not quite sure why it would be happening but I have the same problem.
Quick thing - Why do I has screen tear on Mozzila?
The posterization/banding and screen tearing is noticeable on Mozzila all at once.
Edit -Would be grateful for help on this. Bumping OP.
I'm not THAT stupid as to go down to 16 bit.
EDIT:
Here's a better article on the subject.
Thanks.
I checked it out, this image was helpful.

I get that, sometimes to a lesser and sometimes to the same extent depending on what it is I'm doing.
I didn't see a solution in the article...hm.
Though it could be a good excuse to go from one to two monitors (or two to three), you can always use the "bad" monitor for non-color sensitive work.

It might possibly be a hardware issue. Do you have access to another video card you can swap out to test with?
How are your temperatures? are you overclocking that card and/or PC?
