Dig your use of the sss-reds in the top painting, really gives an extra punch with the surrounding cool colors. Actually good contrasting with warm and cold overall.
And as I before I like the way you render and the simple manner you present your drawings. Simple but powerful.
I'm quite curious on your process for the drawings. What kind of pencils do you prefer to use, hardness etc? Paper hasn't mattered much for me although I wonder if you have any input on that.
@ acapulco: Thank you! I started a render, going to try it it! =D
@ quero: Its something friends suggested doing, helps keep them feeling alive xD. Thanks a lot for the kind words!
@ AimBiZ: I use a .5mm mechanical pencil at HB hardness, any softer and i break more lead than I use xD. I use humble 8.5 x 11 paper, so i can throw things away if i do not like them, as i never erase, it makes it easier to start over all the time xD. http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/143/1/a/pencil_progress_shellrazer_by_sopossum-d50u7j9.gif is a process GIF. At Frame 4 I have finally imported the drawing into photoshop and begun cleaning it up and finishing stuff that did not fit on the paper! Hope this helps
Insight to others workflow is always helpful. Seems like you do a lot of subtle suggestions then build up the structure as you go.
I use very much the same setup although I tend to do a lot of adjusting with the eraser.
@ AimBiz: Its always helpful! Almost exactly How I work. I was raised with only pens when i was younger, and 8.5x11 paper, So If i do make a mistake, I STILL usually end up discarding it. xD
Great work and pencil shading. You have some awesome designs and a good grasps of the forms. I really love the smaug image. It's by far my favorite of your work thus far.
Would like to see some more free sketch pages from a sketchbook.
Wicked stuff as usual. I'm curious of the purpose of the contest entry. Looks like the boy is possessed or in some way have contact with horrific entities from other dimensions.
Of the warriors I like the middle one the most. With lack of better words I find it more balanced.
The centaur is very nice as well although it's clean body jumped out on me since I'm used to seeing you make more defined musculature. Not sure if it's a good or a bad thing. There's something about it that can be pushed more. The belly could probably be sized up a bit as well. Horses are rather wide on the mid-part. Also the lance makes it look quite front-heavy.
