Common UV Layouts?

Hey guys, I was wondering, there's a lot of common shapes that get modeled a lot. Are there optimal layouts for things like cubes and spheres?

DKK thats crap! look at the overlap, definately not recommended!
Proxzee: best thing to do is post a mesh and let people demonstrate. your question is way too abstract

It all depends on how it will be textured, and what angle the player is most likely to see. So the same shape might be uv'ed completely differently depending on how it will be used in game.
