TF2 - Post Polypack - Lozenger

I know i'm too late for the polycount pack update so I don't know if I should be posting here, but I need some more practice in 3Ds Max and thought I might as well start making some items for TF2.

Kinda new to this so bear with me....i'll be beginning with a knife replacement for the Spy. It's most likely to be some form of Sai, and i'm hoping to incorporate some kind of loop or coil around the handle so I can get some spinning/flipping animations going later on.

Got a couple of initial sketches done, which styles would look the best?

Also got a very basic sketch of how one of them might look in-game:

Any feedback/criticism would be greatly appreciated to get me started :D

Keep it within the TF2 style. That means that this sai is not going to look like any sai you've seen before; TF2 is western, this has to conform. It can't be elaborate or decorated (see Frontier Justice 'engraving'). If it's at all possible aim for a utilitarian look, pseudo-modernized.

Look at this trench knife: http://www.iamanangelchaser.com/files/dirty_tricks/trench_knife.jpg

Black, mass produced aura, dirty - entirely function. Apply these elements to your sai. I like the idea of a sai like number 2, that's why I'm posting. But it has to be a TF2 sai.

All that having been said, 2 or 6 looks like your best bet.

Agreed with above post, it can't be too fancy but it still has to fit the spy. I like 3, but it might look better with the side-blade thing of 2 or 5.
