Hi,
I'm currently working on some stuff for my portfolio and since I got a few together I thought I would threw them in here and see what you guys think, get some crits and so on ^^.
Asset-wise they're quite good, all could use some tighter details. Some of the metal bending is too soft and airbrushy, and other high-freq details look a little forced-in. The sperm-ball just call for some wet speculars to really bring out the texture.
For portfolio u should improve the presentation.
Your stuff looks good but you could add some reflectivity to your metallic door. Add an environment map to the material in sandbox and then play around with the reflectivity settings for the metal shader.
thx for tips. I already played around with an environment map but it doesn't really look better... I guess I should change the lighting completely.. maybe that helps
I dont like the scratches on the metal, looks too placed. theres 2 ways i do em. 1 find scratches already done and then overlay it. Or put your brush to 1 choose white, go nuts and then edit it slightly. Play with the opacity and tune it down after. maybe set the erase to 20% and go nuts over it too for fade. good to toss in spec after for shinyness.
I'd also say your metal is too noisy or you got something in the normal that makes it like that.
Other then that your getting there, keep up the good work!
Texture work is strong I feel, nice models also but you need to shake all the unreal engine info from the images if its portfolio. Its very distracting. Also the repeating wall with rocks at the base has a very strong texture repeat along the bottom edge, take it out and use decals to grime it. Keep at it tho!
Thanks Flava-Fly. Those aren't final images for my folio, just screengrabs to show you guys and get some crits and ideas. So yup, the info stuff of the cryengine flickering around will be removed ^^.
