:WHAT IS GROUND STATE?
Ground State is a first person battlefield combat simulation game for the PC created by independent developers. Ground State is a team based multi player first person shooter, simulating modern warfare with an emphasis on realism.
British vs. Resistance Forces battle over large maps, in a dynamically modeled strategical situation. Elements unique to this game are the use of camouflage, and a creative use of game dynamics, both of which eliminate 'standard strategies'. Players must adapt and think on their feet, show patience, communicate, coordinate and establish a hierarchy of rank in order to be effective and win the game as a team.
Ground State takes inspiration from the battlefield series, call of duty series, and the project reality mod. Improving on these formulas, Ground State aims to become an immersive team based simulator, challenging the first person gamer in ways never previously achieved.
:WHAT STAGE IS GAME DEVELOPMENT AT?
Ground State has been in development for 9 months by a team of 6 members, with tens of thousands of lines of code written for the in house engine, and many textures and models created.
The game is specifically designed as a community project. The minimum number of features are intended to create the broadest game, making it feasible for independent development.
An early internal tech demo release is close to completion, while the first public release is scheduled for three months time.
:WHAT MAKES THIS PROJECT DIFFERENT TO THE MANY OTHERS OUT THERE?
First and foremost, Ground State is happening. A common limitation of other projects is their unrealistic ambition and lack of forward planning, or focus on over design and talking about the project but never actually making anything. This is not the case for Ground State, with a level of professionalism and calm objectivity within the team.
Ground State has a dedicated and committed team, focused on completing the project and developing themselves. As project leader, I recognize my responsibility to the team, of whom many depend on this project as a central piece in their portfolio for their future careers, to see the project to several public releases.
Ground State is unique in terms of game play and mechanics, and is creative and experimental in terms of what the game is and how it works. The game is aimed at the mature gamer market, with a lower pace and strategically focus rather than reactions and quick thinking found in many fps games.

Ground State needs new volunteer developers of a professional level of ability. While we are willing to consider all applicants, you must be sure you can benefit the project.
To be a member, you are expected to:
commit to the project for at least the next few months
find time to work on the project several times a week
become involved in mailing list discussions and stay in close contact several times a week
work independently without constant instruction
manage your own motivation
manage your own time to meet deadlines despite life commitments
