grids not showing in most viewports

I'm using max 9 an here lately i've had an issue where grid never wants to show in front or top views,, G toggle does nothing, checking show grid in properties does nothing, any idea?

I recently had the same problem. The reason was that I was working at a huge size and well away from world zero. Max apparently gets confused if you do this.

Press Z, maybe you fly too far from grid.
