^^ brawlers don't have all the fancy loose clothing and long hair, you gotta remember that brawling is generally dirty fighting, the things on her would be easily exploited, atm she looks more like street fighter / doa style
The name actually comes from her fighting style, not necessarily the type of fight she would participate in. Her Class, if you will. The appearance was based on Advent Children Tifa and the Fighter from Dungeon Fighter Online.
It seems like a really bad idea to approach a realistic character project with anime references.
If your devoted to the style id take another look at the ref your showing. bar her hair she is dressed like a fighter. With your design i think your trying to sneak in some pretty accessories like belts and cloaks which have no place in the design. This is a really shitty paint over but she starts to read more as an athletic type without the hair and fancy clothing bits.
Those were actually my references for the outfit alone; I looked at some actual people for the body and such. The paintover, while much more practical and realistic, is too plain.
More fanciful and unwieldy stuff. Modified the top and added more belts, 'cause I'm all about too many belts.

Beefed up the legs, but is it enough?
