I did them through CrazyBump and then applied them to my model as a bump opposed to the Tangent Space Normal. That could be why they look a tad funky.
I'll play around with it and upload another render tonight.
So the first render is a toned down bump map.
The second render is a Tangent Space Normals setting.
I reworked both, let me know if they look better or worse
Moosey_G- I used a bump setting because I was taught that way. Haha I suppose that is the best answer I have, but I uploaded both a bump setting and a normals setting here.
Hey!
Look what just came in the mail!
I ordered it from www.shapeways.com it's a model generator company.
This was a test model that I ordered of this axe that I have been working on.
It stands 9 in wide, 3 in tall and .4 in thick. It is made of sandstone [the cheapest material they had to print with] and I really like how it came out.
tex-cookiedough- Hey man! The models are free to upload to the site and it's all based off of what size you had it at and then you can choose your material you want to use. This one cost me $22.50 and with shipping and everything I paid $25. I can't wait to try it out with another model. I'm thinking of ZBrushing something out and sending it in again.

Added a spec and normal to the axe in Maya and rendered it out with Mental Ray.
Let me know if these are looking better [or worse!].
