Key Presses showing on screen

Hey guys i looked all over the net for this, does anyone know how to turn this off.

basically when you press the alt key it shows up on screen, sometimes by the mouse and sometimes at the center of the screen. it does this also for the shift and ctrl key

im running vista.

are you using a tablet? If so its probable the windows tablet input service. there are a few threads dealing with this.

you might also want to check control panel -> keyboard ...
many custom keyboards have these settings (also caps lock and stuff)
