Diablo 2 10 years old! That easily worth a thread of its own.

What an awesome awesome game. I've played it through many times since its release. I was playing it quite a bit just last year. My mage made it all the way to level 95. Going to level 99 just seems far to dorky :P

Anyway, Can't wait for the 3rd.

I have not played Diablo 2 very much, though I can't recall how many times I played through the first one at my grandparents.
I am also anticipating the next entry into the series.

The Cow level is old, man. You know it's going to be rainbows and unicorns this time.

The ultimate grind machine, one of the greats.

I hope they redo the cow level, an exact replica of the original in sprite based 2.5 D.

A couple of years ago, I asked on Polycount what was so great about Diablo II, because I honestly couldn't see why people why so obsessed with clicking on enemies. The answer was that it couldn't be explained, but that I had to play it. So I bought it at the steep price of €15 and never got past Act II because it was just as boring as I'd imagined.
    True story.

Diablo II is a gambling addiction for people who play video games.

Let me explain: Not everyone obsesses about money and most people don't understand why people gamble their lives away but there's a group of people who LOVE to go to the local casino, they get a rush knowing the next hand is going to change their lives.

Diablo II fans think the next mob they smash will give them Excaliber. To a gamer, a +5 sword of awesome is worth more than gold.

I couldnt use the mouse right handed for a while after playing this game.

I didnt really like it though, its just click click click click click click, and it takes ages to level up and get stuff. I never got any of the decent stuff or into nightmare mode. Just replayed it over and over with different characters. I just liked the atmosphere, and running around with other players(Although not the manic crazy players).

Stoked for Diablo 3, already warming up for a while with Torchlight :)
Loved D2, played it soooooooooooooooooooo much at LAN parties with friends. We'd cheat our characters into the insane levels and play on nightmare. The competition was to find the best gear, it was grand.

I have such fond memories of Diablo 2 :) Selling SOJ's on ebay so my college buddies and I could buy beer, playing it at my campus job all day, and my precious little army that made my Necro happy.

    Bring on Diablo 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    SOJs?

Damn, at one point in time, I had 2 accounts of high runes (Ber Jah Cham Zod).

All my Mercs had a Windforce with a 40/15ias socket.

2 full Accounts of Level 99's

Pretty much all the best possible legit gear you could get in the game, I had the perfect/ethereal version of.

    >_<

    God damn, I can't wait till D3.

Ah SOJ's. :) Sounds like you had a pretty unbelievable set of accounts Jacque

My favorite thing about the game was that rares and other generated items had the chance to be so freakin good. Dual leech rings ftw.

Many hours wasted in diablo and diablo2.

And a quick shoutout to torchlight, the devilspawn of diablo, considering the guys behind it :)

    LOL dual Leech FTW!

Raven Spirals were the pre-expansion dupe that was dual leech resist all + dex.

Imp Shanks, Viper Torque, and Loathe Grasps, (all pre-expansion dupes) you could put that on a Paladin.
'Silence Phase Blade' (for fastest smite damage), Herald of Zakaruum, Shaftstop, String of Ears, Shako, with 2 SOJs, I could wipe the floor with in PVP.

Secret for getting ridiculously wealthy in that game was doing Nilithak runs.

He dropped ilvl 99 (higher than Baal, and higher than pindle).

It wasn't so much the unique drops that were worth it, it was the small and grand charms....

Because with ilvl 99 charms, you could transmute them with gems for 2-99 lightning dmg small charms (way more powerful than 100pdsc, because it was instant per hit, not spread over 3 seconds). And Grand Charms transmuted could get you +skill charms with over +60 life.

Standard ilvl 87 charms found in Cow Levels, wouldn't grant more than 40 Life to the suffix of a skill charm.

I doubt anyone would understand any of that.

    >_<

But you still deal +15 fire damage to the undead and double-damage to GameStop employees with random poison.

Were you using a korean client? I remember at one point there was a huge bug where if NA client players typed out something like

"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (SPACE)" it would crash all of the Korean client's from the game. You can imagine the bloodshed in hardcore pvp because of this :/
