I just finished a model that I had from June 2009 (rigged and added the axe) after finishing with a project I was working on for in the last year. Since it's time to start looking for work again, I thought I'd update my portfolio...
But I really have no idea how to do a proper presentation of my models, and I don't want to start putting new stuff in before I find a good way to present them. This pic is from max 2009 with the Paragalis shader.
I tried Marmoset, but because the axe and the guy use two different materials, I can't get the axe to look right. Plus I get some black artefacts on his belt and left leg, but that can be photoshoped or something.
Then again, even if I made the axe look right, would it be enough of a presentation to have the model against a single colour background?

Presentation is extremely important, and possibly one of the most Important things all together. So def. take the time to learn how to do it. Good Luck!
[edit] Mechadus is right also. A simple plane would work even. Basically, you want a ground to cast shadows on, that's the important thing.
