64-bit mode extremely dark

I just got around now to moving my level over into the may build of the udk, and the screen became extremely dark. I noticed this with other things lately too. If i open a pic in windows photo viewer sometimes, it's really dark. Images uploaded to photobucket are fine, while the same photos in flickr are really dark, and now that I updated to the 64 bit build of the udk, i'm having the problem again. I feel like i'm just being stupid here, but I have no idea what's going on. Anyone know how to fix this? I'm assuming it's a graphic card setting or something, but my drivers are all up to date, and I don't see anything that would apply to this.

dont think it has to do with 64bit, probably the new HDR contrast enhancing tonemapper.

hmmm, well what should I do from here? It changes the look of everything.

either disable it in the post process chain or light your level in a more HDR way. Light values should be brighter and ambient shouldn't be as dark as before.

Sorry to be playing the fool here, but is it possible to steer me towards some kind of tutorial, or similar thread. I've never had to do anything like this, and i'm still a relative 'noob' when it comes to the udk.

there's some discussion in this thread: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67290 but i'm not sure how much info is out there right now. These are all really new features so people are still experimenting. My one suggestion would be to not think of a light that's value is 1 as bright anymore. Lighting is a little closer to real life in the sense that you will have a wide range of values.
