There are so many beautiful entries in this contest, it's hard to pick just one for each class. Even so, I'm forcing you to! :poly121: Remember, this is who you'd like to win, not predictions.
i vote for myself and only myself be cause I'm a greedy bastard and too lazy to write out a list of people. really, i wish everyone could get in seeing how much good stuffs being made.
edit: considering no one made a single crit on my topic instead of: wow iz so cool!
I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Valve are the ones who make the final decisions. We also don't even know if they will only be choosing one per class or not. Plus, it's super hard for everyone to keep track of all the entries.
I am more disappointed by not being included in the weekly showcase, personally.
Sad face. Im not a vet at all. Not even with TF2. /im sad I wasnt picked for one of those fbanana threads. It kinda sucks being a newbie, but I'll be a vet sooner or later.
Really, people are going to cry about not being chosen by adam for weekly showcase? Really? The ones whom have been displayed so far are easily among the VERY best of the contributions. Am I saying that everyone else is crap? No, am I saying some of the contestants here are clearly better than others? Damn right I am, and guess what changes that? Practice.
Just because you're not chosen doesn't mean you should be discouraged and think you're crap. You should think "hey I'm crap now but I'm getting better, loads better!" and judging by some of the newbie entries, some of the contestants are clearly improving their skills throughout this competition, very muchly so.
So don't cry about the best getting the recognition they deserve, if you're not chosen, don't be a twat and cry about it, work to improve yourself and show everyone how wrong their choices were!
Ikimono, you have to be my second or third favorite... it's just that...
ZWEBBIE HAS A MACE!
and let me say, if he had made some kind of gunboat or buff banner replacement you would have moved up a notch.
Scout: Spetch
Soldier: Larolaro
Pyro: Progg
Spy: Chemical Alia in the absence of Twigbag and DamDam
Medic: Betty Hime or Acumen

The problem with teaching yourself and receiving feedback from forums like these is that you don't have a teacher, a real professional that will tell what's right and what's wrong. Here, you get newbies telling they like your stuff and "pro's" telling it's shit, opinions get so mixed up that you rarely know what is that you're doing wrong. In my case, I have 800 posts in my thread praising my models, when in reality they aren't that great considering other entries, but because I was "spoiled" with good feedback from mostly unprofessional users, I tend to get "discouraged" when I'm not chosen for the TF2 week.
@Fragus Identify what users are the real professionals here, take the praise with a grain of salt, be happy you get it, but do NOT let it compromise quality.
Good critique takes effort so not many are inclined to give it, blind praise should seriously just be ignored. It's nice that people might like your stuff but it won't help you improve.
Also there is a difference between genuine critique and opinions.

That's a very DeviantArt way of thinking, you should try your best to not think like that, see if you can throw your stuff up in the What are your working on thread in P&P and specify that you want critique, it's not a thread dedicated to critique but you'll still get some, and make sure you hang around PC after the competition. Most of the "newbs" and "pure praisers" will eventually leave, leaving you at the mercy of pros with time :P
Maybe PC should have a forum section dedicated to Gordon Ramsey style harsh criticism :P

There is. It's called Pimping and Previews.
Also, where do you get crying from? I simply mentioned that I would rather be showcased in the weekly update than in someone's list of favorites in this thread.
Hoping either Mico27 or Fragus wins for spy submission/polycount. Mico has some really creative and unique models, Fragus is awesome as well. There was a lot of thought and effort put into those designs, it shows in the modeling from each artist. each submission is well done. as a whole pack, the models are well done, and creative. themes of each artist was nice, work very well. nice models/submissions.

I see the problem with this whole forum. SO many of the good artists are just completly forgoten. An example are some like Ikimono, re.wind, treythepunkid, and more. I really didn't look at these forums too much to see what was up with the opinions with people, so I may be wrong, but I really think many posts are forgotten. Before, I came here I had no clue who BANG! was, but now I do, so it was somewhat helpful. BUT, I must say....who would make this thread?
ok, I think Buck is now my favorite heavy pack...
or the pack with the cookie...
IT'S HARD PICKING FAVORITES!
exactly why this thread shouldn't exist. Almost every pack has at least 1 thing that I REALLY want. I hope to see everything in the game at some point...but i know that's probably not gonna happen because it's probably not practical. :C
I'd vote for myself, but i'd just by lying to myself. there's so much spectacular stuff here that it's very difficult to pick anyone out. I know i'm not going to win anything because my texture-skill is low. Modest? Realist? bit of both.
I think they'll choose a pack for the contest with every single item in it being awesome (of which there are a few) and then after that they'll pick and choose from everyone else's items that they think would be cool to add to the game, not necessarily whole packs though.
...at least that's what I'm hoping for. If they only choose ONE pack I'll be sad since so many great items were made during this contest. I would prefer Valve to pick and choose the best items from people's packs because while not all of them have awesome items for all 3 (or more) slots, a lot have 1 or 2 special gem items in them that would make great additions to TF2.

A lot of these threads are very good, the judges could really just accept the first 9 class--different threads they click.

hurhurrr
It's a valid point, there hasn't even been confirmation on whether entire packs will go through or just individual items.
i dont think they'd have asked for a "theme" for just a single item
nor would it be fair on the day for valve to go
"pyro won by ---"
"scout won by ---"
these 2 classes get items, screw the others
...at least that's what I'm hoping for. If they only choose ONE pack I'll be sad since so many great items were made during this contest. I'm thinking if they choose more than one entry for each class, we will get a really excessive amount of new items...
